ADHD Testing
Do you have a hard time focusing? Do you often feel restless and feel compelled to move when you should not? Do you have a hard time not interrupting other people? Is this having a negative impact on your daily functioning? Whether you relate to these symptoms in yourself or see it in your child or another loved one, it could indicate ADHD. ADHD, also referred to as ADD, can have a profound impact on daily functioning.
Types Of ADHD
Most people think about hyperactivity when they think about ADHD, so it can often be difficult for people to imagine themselves or their children fitting into this diagnosis. Even if you wouldn’t be considered hyperactive, that doesn’t mean that you do not have ADHD. There are actually three different types of ADHD.
- ADHD, Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: This type of ADHD is characterized by mostly hyperactive and impulsive symptoms.
- ADHD, Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: This type of ADHD is marked by more inattentive symptoms. They are not usually impulsive or hyperactive, but have extreme difficulty focusing. This type of ADHD is often referred to attention-deficit disorder (ADD) instead.
- ADHD, Combined Presentation: The most common type, this is characterized by having a mix of all the symptoms.
Diagnosing ADHD

ADHD Treatment
Fortunately, once diagnosed, it’s highly likely that we can find a treatment for you that helps you manage your symptoms and restore peace to your daily life.
Medication
Prescribed by a doctor, ADHD medications are often effective for managing symptoms. ADHD is managed by stimulation medications such as amphetamines and methylphenidate. These work to balance the chemicals in the brain related to attention, focus, and impulse control. You may need to work with your doctor to balance the right dosage and type of medication, as sometimes, these can cause side effects such as loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, irritability, and anxiety. We can refer to, and coordinate with, a psychiatrist for medication management.
